Featuring Purebred Black Angus Cattle The objective of our purebred cattle program is to produce purebred black Angus cattle that will work from pasture to plate by the use of the latest technology. Our cattle are raised under the harsh conditions of our deep southern Louisiana environment. Cattle doing well here will thrive in cattle programs farther north. Very high selection standards have been set for each Angus animal to remain in the Monarch program or to be sold to our customers as a registered purebred. The selection starts with a visual appraisal on each and every Angus. First and foremost, all replacement and sale purebred cattle must have a sound set of feet and legs! The females must have a well-balanced, trouble-free udder while the bulls must have excellent testicular development. Carcass qualities are also evaluated on each replacement or sale individual via ultrasound. Positive carcass traits are required for the purebred cattle to be moved into the cow herd. We believe our strict selection standards for our purebred cattle program will result in more predictable and profitable Angus cattle for our customers. At Monarch Farms we are committed to using the newest technologies available to the beef industry to produce a superior product, both phenotypically and genotypically via our extensive DNA mapping program. With this testing we can tell our customers with a great deal of confidence what the animal they are purchasing is capable of producing from pasture to plate. We can and do guarantee certain pedigrees to be homozygous for marbling and tenderness. National average for Angus type cattle to qualify for CAB® is 18.4% you can raise your odds dramatically by knowing the genotype of your calf crop.Cattle that have tested homozygous for marbling produce 19% more choice carcasses and cattle that are homozygous for tenderness have a reduced shear force by up to 1.92 lbs.
